I MASETERD THIS SONG IN MS PAINT

hmm

Sounds like a midi rip to me.

KyuubiT responds:

its not done with REAL instruments if thats what your getting at.. all i have is Garage band right now... if i had FL it would sound a little more smooth... its not really possible to do with Garage band is a very amature program is comes standard with mac i dont even quite have the monster package it allows either... it was easy shift over from my original song which was a tech version i spent a while adjusting levels and switching instruments too. :( i'm sorry you didn't like it...

This is so good. every note is perfect and flows so good. If you built on this it could be top 5 for sure. mp3 quality is a bit shoddy bud i dont care :)

kaptainkewl responds:

Thanks a million for the review, I figure with you remixing it, You'll be the one getting the fame though.

This is amaehzing karco :D

The song sounds so deep, it depicts it's name well. It's like it put me into a trance, it's repetitive, but I managed to listen through 4:34 without even noticing that much time had passed. the detuning piano screws with the mind so well, as zellers said, it's pretty inspirational.

I guess the only bad i can say about it is that, during the first half the choirs sounded a bit wavey and synthetic, but I guess I can't blame your technique for that, as you can only use the resources available.

This would make a perfect backing track for games and movie and stuff. Well done :D:D:DD

Karco responds:

Thanks xKore! :D

The detuning piano? Listen to the beginning and skip to the end. The whole thing detunes down two octaves over 16 measures. :D (Edit 4-12-09: I've always been meaning to fix what I've said here. It's not two octaves, which is what FL showed, it's two whole steps, which is what Nexus puts out for some reason.)

I'll copy part of my response to FlamingFirebolt's review: "Hmm, funny thing, it's not a choir. :P If you listen to the preset itself playing individual notes, it's a solo singer, but I had it play two notes at a time, which explains the choir-ish feel. And since this all was a big experiment anyway, I don't mind if you don't think the choir sounded real. It didn't have to. ;D"

Yeah, it would be really nice if this got used in a front-paged, high quality Flash game or something, it seems to fit certain feels and concepts I've seen before perfectly. :D We'll have to see.

Thanks for the review and the praise! Glad you liked it. :D

Great song Firebolt ^______________^

FlamingFirebolt responds:

Thanks ^________^

Very nice. hi five

I really like this song ^_______^. It my mind it does convey alot of sadness, but I think more there is more epicness in it.

The drums are very well done, I can't really say anything bad about them, they have a nice groove and rhythm to them, they are pretty creative and really do work with the song. The mixing of them is well done, very clear and have a nice presence in the mix. To me, they give the mix a more urbanic mix, if you know what I mean? slightly like percussion in modern hip hop.

The piano, rhythm and the melody is good, this is the main element of the song and is supposed to set the whole tone of the peice, and it certainly does do that. Although, I felt as if it could've have a much deeper sound to it, I think the only thing carrying the actualy sound of the piano to make it good was the melody and the reverb. If you got your hands on a better piano multisample/synth/soundfont I think it could contribute to the emotion that the piano gives to the listener. They playing of the piano is nice and doesn't sound too robotic or too humanised. Another thing I think you could improve on the piano is the over dynamics of it, the sound of the piano as I said before would contribute to this, but the piano doesn't sound sharp enough and doesn't have enough presence over the percussion in this piece. So overall, to improve this, I think you could try and find a better piano sound, there are plenty of piano soundfonts on the net I think, and to raise the level and the presence of the piano, could help to raise the 8khz and higher frequencies.

The bassy underlying sound goes along well with the other instruments, harmonizes well and doesn't take tooo much attention from the percussion and piano which are the main elements in this song. You also have some nice ambience/pads/fx in the background of this song, and they sound pretty freakin awesome. Again, they don't take too much attention away, almost subliminal infact, yet contribute quite alot to the mix.

Overall, I think you've done very well with this song as a whole, the instruments mix together and harmonize well and all have something to contribute to the song. Well done :D:DD:D:D:D:D:D

Gloudas responds:

Cool. thanks for a great review. You're right about the piano, there are definately some times it could be deeper, and thats something I need to work on in terms of composition, as I often find piano is hardest to master. Glad to hear you liked the song so much, thanks again for the review :D

Nice song, I like what you've done with the fills in the intro, very clever. The song holds a solid beat and good synths.

I think the lead could've done with less reverb so it gave the stutters time to breath and so it wouldn't be as muddy with the beat. The beat could do with a hatline to give it some pace and rhythm. Also I didn't like the fact that I could recognise VEC samples in their, particularly the vocal samples and the fill loops in the beginning. Basically, it's well composed and sequenced, just needs some cleaning in the mixing (some heavier EQing, panning and less reverb to make it more fluid and less muddy).

Well done on it :)

Ethalyn responds:

very glad you liked it:) and thanks for the long review!

now onto the long respond:P

oh i have a hihat, but i have this obsession on not having it to low, i really find it annoying when the hihat is to low, so i find it more comfortable when it is LOOOOW, but ill try experimenting:) oh and those VEC voice samples, well, i have a mic, but it is unfortunatly not working, i just want to spice things up a bit, but without a mic, these will have to do:) but the fills i agree i could do without:P oh and one thing, EQ'ing? heavier? could you explain:P? but all in all, very glad you liked it:)

It's an awright song Eig, I like that melody alot.

I think it could do with something to hold it all together and to create some atmosphere, like pads. The hatline seemed pretty simplistic, only a kick, open hat and clap, could do more there. Loving the melody though :]

DrDIL responds:

thanks :)

yeah, it could use some more pads, but the ones I know and have got long attack (wouldnt fit into the fast tempo) and changing it would probably ruin the feel of it :|
by the way thanks bout the melody :) most of it is mine, except some are from the original ARiP2 :)
